Jean-Baptiste Sankara (JB) harnesses the power of short-form documentaries to tell stories that matter. Working behind the camera as a director of photography, camera operator, and assistant camera — as well as an editor and producer — he brings a full range of craft to every project he touches.
JB was the 2nd camera operator on the feature documentaries A Peloton of One and The Lost Trophy, and was co-director of photography on Sulu and Excelsior's visual album, The Antimatter Suite.
"We're not interested in video that checks a box. We're interested in film that changes the room."
JB collaborates with nonprofit organizations and fellow filmmakers to amplify their voices and create meaningful change — channeling his passion for social justice and human rights. He works with the Georgie Badiel Foundation and their major annual fundraiser, The Water Ball, creating and coordinating all media for the event.
He also brings brands to life through commercial work — crafting visually stunning and emotionally resonant films that showcase the best of what organizations have to offer.
Outside the work, JB enjoys time with family and friends — taking photos, watching a football match, or getting on the pitch when the opportunity comes.
